Michael B. Jordan and RAYE, born Rachel Agatha Keen, are fueling fresh dating speculation after spending time together at Six Flags Magic Mountain in California. An insider revealed to PEOPLE that the pair have already gone on several dates and “really like each other,” while another insisted they are “just friends” who visited the amusement park with a group. Neither star has publicly addressed the buzz, leaving fans to wonder whether the outing was romantic or simply a fun day together.
Michael B. Jordan & RAYE Dating Buzz Grows After Six Flags Outing
Jordan, 39, and RAYE, 28, caught fans’ attention after they were spotted together at Six Flags Magic Mountain outside Los Angeles on Friday, August 7. Photos shared on X showed the “Creed” star sitting beside the British singer, whose real name is Rachel Keen, on a roller coaster. Another fan posted a TikTok video showing them preparing to take off on a different ride. As someone encouraged passengers to raise their hands, RAYE enthusiastically did so before nudging Jordan to join her.
The outing quickly generated questions about whether Hollywood had a new celebrity pairing, and one source told PEOPLE there may have been more going on than a casual day at the amusement park.
“Michael and RAYE have been on a couple dinner dates before this,” the source said. “Things are new between them, but they really like each other. RAYE tells friends that Michael is her type and that he is warm and kind.” However, a second source offered a very different account, telling the media outlet that Jordan and RAYE are “just friends” and were visiting Six Flags as part of a larger group.
RAYE Has Been Open About What She Wants in a Partner
RAYE has largely kept her love life out of the spotlight, even as she has been linked to a few high-profile musicians over the years. She was connected to Drake in 2018 and later sparked romance rumors with British singer Sam Fender in 2022, but she has never publicly confirmed either relationship.
The Grammy-winning singer has, however, spoken about the qualities she values in a future partner. During a November interview with PEOPLE at Bloomingdale’s holiday window unveiling in New York City, she explained that communication sits high on her list. “Words of affirmation is my love language,” RAYE said. “So, you need to have the qualities of a good communicator. Communication is so important to me.”
Her comments have taken on renewed interest amid the speculation surrounding Jordan, particularly after the PEOPLE source described him as someone RAYE considers her “type.” Outside her personal life, RAYE has built an international career with songs including “Escapism,” while also earning songwriting credits for major artists such as Beyoncé, John Legend and Little Mix.
Jordan Has Kept Most of His Relationships Out of the Spotlight
Jordan has similarly guarded his dating life throughout much of his career. Although he has previously been linked to stars including Kendall Jenner, Kiki Layne and model Cindy Bruna, those rumored romances were never publicly confirmed. His most visible relationship was with Lori Harvey. Jordan and Harvey made their relationship Instagram official in January 2021 after first sparking dating speculation in late 2020.
Their romance lasted about a year and a half before their breakup was confirmed in June 2022. “Michael and Lori are both completely heartbroken,” an insider disclosed at the time. Jordan later poked fun at experiencing his first highly publicized breakup during his 2023 “Saturday Night Live” hosting appearance, but he has generally avoided giving extensive details about his relationships.
Michael B. Jordan Previously Explained Why Celebrity Dating Is Difficult
Long before the RAYE speculation began, Jordan acknowledged that fame can complicate even the earliest stages of dating. Speaking to GQ in 2018, the actor questioned how celebrities are supposed to get to know someone in the normal way, while public speculation begins almost immediately.
“So now, how do you go anywhere normal, chill, just getting to know somebody that you just met, that you may not, may or may not, hit it off at all? That part of dating is tough,” he said. Jordan returned to the subject in a 2025 GQ interview, making it clear that romance was not his primary focus at the time.
“I’m not tripping over it,” he said. “I’m so work-focused. I would want somebody to fit into the flow of my life, of where I am. And that’s timing, right? You can meet the right person, and be at the wrong time, and it just doesn’t work out.” For now, the Creed actor and the Brit Award-winning record producer have given fans plenty to speculate about but no confirmation. With one source describing multiple dates and another insisting they are simply friends, their Six Flags adventure remains exactly that until either star decides to say otherwise.
