Keion White Shooting: 2 Men Charged, 2 More Arrested

San Francisco prosecutors charged two men on Oct. 14 in the Feb. 9 shooting of San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Keion White at a Mission District nightclub, and police said two more men were arrested in other cities. All four are presumed innocent. The District Attorney’s Office laid out the charges in a news release.

What Prosecutors Charged

District Attorney Brooke Jenkins announced charges against Gregory Walker, 36, of Mountain House, and Curtis Green, 35, of Irvine. The release says White was shot in the ankle while hosting a private party in the downstairs VIP area of the Dahlia Club after the Super Bowl. Court documents allege that Walker and a second man fired their guns, and that Green was also armed and brandished his firearm.

Walker faces one count of assault with a semiautomatic firearm. Prosecutors allege he personally fired a gun and personally inflicted great bodily injury. He also faces three felony counts related to having a firearm as a felon: possession, concealed possession and possession of a loaded firearm. The release lists his court number as 26024758.

The release cites California Penal Code sections 245(b), 12022.5(a) and 12022.7(a) for the assault count and its enhancements, and sections 29800(a)(1), 25400(a)(2) and 25850(a) for the firearm counts against Walker.

Green faces three misdemeanors: brandishing a firearm, carrying a concealed firearm and carrying a loaded firearm in public. His court number is 26024759. The release cites sections 417(a)(2)(B), 25400(a)(2) and 25850(a) for those counts.

Both men were scheduled for arraignment at 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 14 at the Hall of Justice. The District Attorney’s Office said it will ask a judge to hold Walker without bail, citing public safety. The release does not state a bail position for Green and does not include a statement from either defendant or a lawyer for either man.

The Timeline from Shooting to Arrest

Walker and Green were arrested months after the shooting. San Francisco police, assisted by Irvine police, served a search warrant at Green’s home on Oct. 7 and arrested him there without incident, the release says. That was 240 days after the shooting. Los Angeles police arrested Walker on an arrest warrant on Oct. 9, and both men were booked into San Francisco County Jail on Oct. 12. The charges came 247 days after the shooting, a count from the dates in the release.

The release says a second man who is accused of firing a gun has not yet been charged. The San Francisco Police Department and the District Attorney’s Office are working with other jurisdictions to bring him to San Francisco.

Operation D-Line and the Other Arrests

The San Francisco Standard reported that the investigation, which police called Operation DLine, ran from California to Georgia and involved more than 50 search warrants and more than 250 law enforcement personnel. Investigators seized firearms and nearly 15 pounds of narcotics from suspects’ homes, according to the Standard’s account of the police briefing.

The Standard reported two further arrests. Police arrested Marquis Davis, 38, in Atlanta and said they found 820 grams of MDMA, 1,026 grams of methamphetamine, 979 grams of cocaine and 3,842 grams of fentanyl at his home. Police arrested Antoine Washington, 36, in Stockton and said they found a loaded firearm, more than 120 oxycodone pills and about $6,691 in cash. Charges against both men have not been announced because neither is in San Francisco custody.

The four drug weights listed for Davis add up to 6,667 grams, or about 14.7 pounds, so his home accounts for essentially all of the nearly 15 pounds police cited. That total is a calculation from the Standard’s figures, and the Standard did not itemize the seizures from the other homes.

SFPD Lt. Rich Hunt said Walker, Davis, Washington and Green are the only suspects targeted so far, the Standard reported. Police Chief Derrick Lew said the investigation “expanded rapidly” beyond a single shooting and called the violence “unacceptable in San Francisco.”

What Witnesses Described

The Standard reported that White, 27, was shot in the right ankle at Dahlia’s, a nightclub on Mission Street. Police described the scene as chaotic, with patrons ducking for cover and fleeing. Investigators said some suspects carrying firearms confronted White, which led to a physical altercation before the gunfire.

The Standard also reported that witnesses said White argued with the rapper Lil Baby, whose legal name is Dominique Jones, before gunshots sounded, and that Lil Baby was in San Francisco for a performance. Neither the District Attorney’s release nor the Standard’s account of police statements says Lil Baby was charged, accused of taking part in the shooting or targeted by the investigation. The district attorney’s release does not mention him. The Standard’s report includes no statement from Lil Baby, White or the 49ers.

What the Record Does Not Show

The release does not describe a motive and does not say why the second man who allegedly fired a gun has not yet been charged. It does not name him. It does not say whether Walker and Green knew White before that night. The charges against Walker rest on court documents the release describes and does not publish.

The Standard’s account does not say whether Davis and Washington will face charges tied to the shooting, to the items police say they found in the homes or to both. It says only that no charges have been announced for either man.

How to Reach Investigators

The district attorney’s release asks anyone with information to call the SFPD Tip Line at 1-415575-4444 or to text TIP411 with the word SFPD. Anonymous tips are accepted. The release says the investigation remains active.
