Jared Leto has been accused of criminal sexual conduct by four women, with all of the alleged incidents said to have occurred when they were teenagers, according to a new BBC documentary.
The allegations appear in Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret, which features claims from 10 women, nine of whom the BBC says are speaking publicly for the first time.
Women Come Forward With Claims in BBC Documentary
According to the BBC documentary, one of the four women alleges Leto sexually assaulted her in a motel bathroom when she was 17.
Another claims he threatened her with sexual assault after she was unexpectedly left alone with him in a hotel room at age 19. A third alleges she had sex with Leto in California when she was 17, below the state’s age of consent. The fourth claims Leto repeatedly made sexually explicit phone calls to her when she was 16 and, on at least one occasion, suggested they have sex.
The BBC said it corroborated aspects of several women’s accounts through interviews with friends and family members they confided in at the time and, in some cases, through photos and messages that supported their claims.
Leto did not respond to the BBC’s requests for comment regarding the documentary. However, he has previously denied allegations of inappropriate conduct, and the claims have not been proven in court.
Leto’s accusers are among several people who have come forward with misconduct allegations against high-profile entertainment figures this year.
