Selena Gomez and her mom have been sued over claims that investors were misled about Wondermind Global before the mental health company allegedly fell into serious trouble behind the scenes. Two investment companies have taken legal action against Gomez, her mother, Mandy Teefey, Wondermind and co-founder Daniella Pierson, seeking to recover more than $1 million. The lawsuit paints a starkly different picture of the business from the ambitious wellness platform. The company was first announced in November 2021 and launched on April 4, 2022.
Selena Gomez and Mom Sued Over Investor Claims
TMZ obtained the lawsuit filed by Wondermind SRS 44 LLC and Bespoke Wondermind LLC, which accuses the company’s founders of making false representations about Wondermind’s leadership, infrastructure and resources. According to the complaint, the investors put more than $1 million into the company after Gomez promoted Wondermind in television appearances and interviews. They claim her public involvement gave the impression that she would play a substantial role in building the business.
The lawsuit alleges that her participation became far more limited after the investment was secured. Pierson is also accused of misrepresenting her previous business achievements and the returns investors could expect. The companies claim they were kept unaware of the extent of Wondermind’s problems as their investment was being depleted. “For three years, while the company quietly collapsed around them, not one of its founders, officers or directors said a word to the investors whose money was funding the collapse,” the complaint states.
According to the lawsuit, investors only discovered the seriousness of the situation after The Cut published an investigation in September 2025 describing Wondermind as being in a “state of utter disarray.” The investors claim the article raised questions about Teefey’s management of the business and alleged substance abuse, while also describing Gomez’s “abject dereliction of her duties to the company.” It further claimed tensions between Gomez and her mother contributed to the singer distancing herself from Wondermind. The Cut also described financial difficulties that allegedly left the company struggling to pay employees and vendors on time.
Mandy Teefey Pushed Back Against Claims About Wondermind

Teefey strongly denied allegations about both her personal life and Wondermind’s internal condition when The Cut published its story. “It’s unfortunate that a few disgruntled employees with an ax to grind can spread lies about me and distort the truth. Even more disappointing that the media is willing to amplify their lies,” she said.
According to the new lawsuit, investors later approached Teefey about the claims raised in the article. They allege she attempted to place responsibility on Pierson, who had already departed Wondermind. The dispute represents a dramatic turn for a company that began with much different ambitions.
Gomez, Teefey and Pierson launched Wondermind in 2022 as an online platform intended to provide accessible resources for people interested in caring for their mental health. Its early offerings included a website and free newsletter, with podcasts and other mental fitness resources planned for later development. At launch, Wondermind described its approach in optimistic terms. “With honest conversations and expert advice, this is your roadmap for overcoming stigma, shifting your mindset, and feeling supported,” its website stated.
The founders also described Wondermind as a place where users could develop a regular mental fitness routine through expert advice, personal essays and candid conversations. “Wondermind is where you’ll build your mental fitness routine through exclusive, honest conversations with people you’ve definitely heard of (and some you maybe haven’t heard of…yet), mindset-shifting advice from experts, and essays that will make you feel seen and heard. Less jargon, more meaningful, relatable stuff you can actually use.”
Wondermind Began With an Ambitious Mission
Gomez’s involvement with Wondermind followed her previous work promoting conversations about mental health through initiatives including her Rare Impact Fund. Speaking about Wondermind after its launch, Gomez discussed her tendency to overthink situations and the importance of assessing how she was actually feeling.
Four years after Wondermind’s launch, the company’s original mission now sits at the center of a very different story. Wondermind SRS 44 LLC and Bespoke Wondermind LLC are suing for securities fraud and seeking unspecified damages, including the return of their investments. The allegations remain claims contained in a lawsuit, and the case will determine whether the investors can prove that the picture they were sold of Wondermind differed materially from what was happening behind closed doors.
