Tyler, the Creator Puts GOLF Logo on Barcelona Clásico Jersey

Musician Tyler, the Creator wearing clear-framed glasses, a black "PETALERS" hat, and a prominent gold chain over a striped polo shirt.

Tyler, the Creator’s GOLF logo will appear on the front of FC Barcelona’s jersey for El Clásico against Real Madrid on Oct. 25, and Spotify said it is the first time an artist has had full creative control of one of its jersey takeovers. The match is at Spotify Camp Nou.

What Tyler, the Creator Controls in the Takeover

Spotify’s announcement lists four parts to the project: the jersey, a short film that Tyler directed, a clothing collection with his brand GOLF WANG and a Barcelona event called Copa De Golf. The club’s own announcement says GOLF WANG, the brand Tyler founded, supplies the logo on the shirt front and that every garment in the collection carries joint FC Barcelona and GOLF WANG branding.

Marc Hazan, Spotify’s senior vice president of marketing and partnerships, said in the club’s announcement that earlier takeovers each pushed Spotify somewhere new but that “this one feels different.” Joan Soler, the club’s vice president for the commercial area, said in Spotify’s post that the project “further strengthens the unique nature of our partnership with Spotify.”

A GOLF WANG representative described the Clásico as one of the biggest stages in the world and said the partnership sets a new benchmark for collaboration across sports, music and fashion, according to Spotify. Spotify’s post does not give details on the design of the jersey or the short film, and it does not say when the film will be released.

What the GOLF WANG Collection Includes

The two announcements describe the clothing in different terms. Spotify names a letterman jacket and a track jacket as the headline pieces, along with long-sleeve and short-sleeve retro jerseys. The club lists a bomber jacket, a retro tracksuit, a leopard-print set, T-shirts, sweatshirts, socks, a beanie, a bottle and a collaboration scarf. Neither announcement gives a price for any item.

Both sources put the limited matchday jersey run at 1,899 units, a reference to the year the club was founded. The club adds that 22 jerseys are signed by starters and squad members for the two matches and that 11 are signed by Tyler. Spotify said the collection went on sale Oct. 15 at GOLF stores in Los Angeles, New York City, Tokyo, Sydney and London and at golfwang.com. It also sells at Barça Official Stores in Spain and online and at select Nike locations.

Spotify said nike.com and the SNKRS app will carry it “soon,” while the club lists Nike.com and SNKRS among its sales channels without that qualifier. Neither source says how many jerseys remain. The collection went on sale 10 days before the match, a figure calculated from the Oct. 15 and Oct. 25 dates.

Event Schedule for Oct. 23 to Oct. 25

The club said FC Barcelona Femení wears the jersey first, in a Liga F match on Saturday, Oct. 24. The same night, Copa De Golf takes place in Barcelona, which the club calls an evening of music, football and fashion. Yung Taco headlines with a DJ set. Bexnil, Alu Nuenga, duna and Mushkaa support, and Spotify describes the supporting acts as emerging artists from Barcelona’s music scene. The men’s team plays Real Madrid the next day. The sources disagree on when the jersey arrives in the KONAMI video game eFootball. The club says it becomes available from Oct. 23. Spotify says Oct. 24.

Nine Artists in Four Years of Spotify Takeovers

Tyler follows eight artists. The club lists them as Olivia Rodrigo, Ed Sheeran, Travis Scott, Coldplay, Karol G, The Rolling Stones, Rosalía and Drake. Spotify’s post on Rodrigo’s takeover in May called her the eighth artist and the youngest, which makes Tyler the ninth. Drake’s shirt came first, in October 2022, so the nine takeovers span about four years.

Spotify’s 2022 post said Drake’s shirt carried his OVO owl logo and the number 50 and that the club replaced its main sponsor’s name on the front for the first time. Spotify tied the design to Drake becoming the first artist whose tracks streamed 50 billion times on the platform.

Travis Scott’s Cactus Jack logo took the front for the May 11, 2025, Clásico. Spotify said he performed a concert in Barcelona on May 10, his first in the city, and sold a capsule collection at his own store. Sheeran’s album title “Play” replaced the Spotify logo for the Oct. 26, 2025, Clásico, and Spotify described him as the first male solo pop artist on the kit. Scott’s, Sheeran’s and Rodrigo’s jerseys each used the same run of 1,899 units. Rodrigo’s jersey ran for the May 10, 2026, Clásico, and sales began at 10 a.m. Central European Summer Time on May 1.

How Tyler’s Plan Differs from Earlier Takeovers

Two earlier artists performed in Barcelona. Rodrigo played a Billions Club Live show for top fans on May 8, two days before her Clásico, and Scott gave his concert the night before his. Spotify’s post on Tyler lists a short film, a collection and a Copa De Golf night headlined by a DJ set. It does not announce a performance by Tyler, and it does not say whether he will attend the match.

Spotify said the clothing collection is rooted in GOLF WANG’s signature use of bold color and considered craft, and Hazan said every element of the project is rooted in the brand’s world. The spread of the jersey across one weekend shows the scale of the rollout: a women’s match on Saturday, a men’s match on Sunday, a video game release and a retail run that began 10 days before kickoff.
