Celebrity romance suffered another brutal year in 2026 as marriages, engagements, and seemingly secure relationships unraveled across music, sports, television, and film. Some couples quietly accepted that their futures no longer aligned, while others faced cheating allegations, demanding careers, new-parent pressures, and painful public scrutiny. From Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo ending a decade-long marriage to Megan Thee Stallion making a devastating accusation, these were the celebrity breakups that left fans stunned most this year.

Jelly Roll and Bunnie Xo

Jelly Roll, 41, and Bunnie Xo, 46, finalized their divorce on Friday, July 17, nearly 10 years after secretly marrying in Las Vegas in August 2016.

Court documents showed that they divided homes, vehicles, an aircraft, and intellectual property, while Jelly agreed to make a confidential lump-sum payment.

Despite the legal ending, the country star spoke warmly about Bunnie. “Me and my wife are best friends; we will always be best friends,” he said, adding, “She will probably be the only woman I’ll ever love the way I loved her.” He also insisted that “nobody cheated on nobody.”

One source via People said the pair had “always had a complicated dynamic” and “still love each other but were no longer on the same page about certain things, including what they wanted their future to look like.”

Another insider explained, “The reality is that he will always love her, but that doesn’t mean that he wants to stay married.” The source added that Jelly “feels healthy, focused and in control of his future.”

Megan Thee Stallion and Klay Thompson

Megan Thee Stallion’s breakup with Klay Thompson on Saturday, April 25, became one of 2026’s messiest splits after she publicly accused the NBA star of cheating.

“I’ve made the decision to end my relationship with Klay,” Megan told Billboard. “Trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there’s no real path forward. I’m taking this time to prioritize myself and move ahead with peace and clarity.”

Her Instagram post was harsher. “Cheating, had me around your whole family playing house… got ‘cold feet,’” she wrote, later questioning why he suddenly did not know whether he could be monogamous.

The collapse came months after Thompson named his boat “SS Stallion” and Megan said she was “manifesting my engagement.” Their once-promising romance ended less than a year after they went public July 16, 2025, at her inaugural Pete & Thomas Foundation Gala in New York City.

Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater

Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater separated quietly after nearly three years together. The Wicked costars met in December 2022, while filming the musical adaptation in Britain and later appeared side by side in July 2023, during its promotional run.

“They gave lots of time and careful consideration and decided to go their separate ways,” a source told PEOPLE. “They are still friends and very supportive of one another.”

Their breakup reportedly happened several months before it became public on Monday, June 8, and was described as amicable.

Grande, 33, moved forward with her Eternal Sunshine tour and upcoming album Petal, which is to be released on Friday, July 31. On the other hand, Slater, 34, continued his stage and screen career.4

The relationship had attracted intense scrutiny because both stars finalized divorces from former partners during their time together.

Bella Hadid and Adan Banuelos

Bella Hadid and cowboy Adan Banuelos ended their relationship after more than two years, reportedly because distance, busy careers, and different visions for the future became too difficult to reconcile.

“Bella is doing her best to stay positive and distract herself since their split,” a source told Entertainment Tonight. “She’s been staying busy with work and spending time with close friends. She is still processing the breakup since it was a very serious relationship.”

Another insider said, “There was a lot that was putting strain on the relationship,” explaining that Banuelos wanted Hadid in Texas while she hoped to work more in Los Angeles and New York.

The breakup reportedly devastated the model. “She’s been really heartbroken and thought Adan was The One,” a source said. Hadid later posted, “Divine timing always wins,” as she leaned on her family, friends, and career.

Ali Wong and Bill Hader

Ali Wong and Bill Hader, 48, called time on their romance after about two years. Their separation was described as amicable, but demanding schedules and parenting responsibilities reportedly made the relationship difficult to sustain.

“It was too difficult to make the relationship work with Ali’s upcoming stand-up tour and Bill’s various film and TV projects this year,” a source told PEOPLE. “They’re focusing on their work and kids, while continuing to support and root for each other.”

44-year-old Wong had previously turned Hader’s pursuit into comedy material, recalling him telling her, “Hey, Ali. I just happened to hear the news of your divorce today, and I gotta tell you…I’m excited.”

Even after their romance ended, reports suggest that the comedians remained friends.

Taylor Fritz and influencer Morgan Riddle

Taylor Fritz and influencer Morgan Riddle ended their relationship after nearly six years together, PEOPLE confirmed. While one source said Riddle ended the romance, another described the split as mutual.

The pair began dating in 2020 after meeting on a dating app, and Riddle became a familiar presence at Fritz’s tournaments while building a large following by documenting life on the tennis circuit. Together, they promoted the idea of making tennis more appealing to younger audiences.

Their breakup on Saturday, April 25, happened during Fritz’s recovery from a knee injury that forced him to withdraw from multiple clay-court events, including the Madrid Open.

Megan Rapinoe and Sue Bird

Megan Rapinoe and Sue Bird announced their separation on Friday, April 17, after almost a decade together, ending one of sports’ most visible relationships.

“There really is no smooth or easy way to share this news,” the former power couple wrote jointly. “After a lot of thought, we’ve made the decision to separate as a couple.”

They said the choice had been made “with so much love, respect, and care for each other” and reflected on the life they shared.

“We’ve shared a whole life over the last decade, through big moments and in quiet ones, and that is something we’ll always carry with us,” they wrote.

Their joint podcast also changed with the split. “The conversations, the laughter, the connection — it means more than we can put into words,” they said, while assuring listeners that the community they created would continue.

Pete Davidson and Elsie Hewitt

Pete Davidson, 32, and Elsie Hewitt, 30, split only five months after welcoming their daughter, Scottie Rose. Reports blamed tension over Davidson’s busy work schedule and Hewitt’s desire for more support at home.

A source said they were still “working on things” and “want one another to succeed and be happy,” with their baby remaining their “top priority.”

The relationship had moved quickly. Hewitt announced her pregnancy four months after they were first seen together in March 2025, joking, “welp now everyone knows we had sex.”

Her path to motherhood carried added meaning because she previously underwent surgery for endometriosis. “I just knew I couldn’t live like that anymore,” she said of the pain she endured before receiving treatment.

Although their romantic future remained uncertain, the pair appeared committed to navigating parenthood together.

Kelsea Ballerini and Chase Stokes

Kelsea Ballerini and Chase Stokes have ended their relationship after nearly three years together, PEOPLE confirmed through the singer’s representative.

Sources close to the former couple said they “gave it their all” but ultimately could not make the relationship work. The pair first sparked romance rumors in January 2023 before making their red carpet debut later that year.

Throughout their relationship, both spoke openly about prioritizing communication, therapy, and making time for one another despite demanding careers. The split comes just days after Stokes publicly celebrated Ballerini’s 32nd birthday with a heartfelt Instagram tribute, making the breakup particularly unexpected.

Alexandra Daddario and Andrew Form

Alexandra Daddario and producer Andrew Form ended their marriage after more than three years. The couple married in 2022 and welcomed a son in October 2024.

On February 20, a representative confirmed that “Alexandra Daddario and Andrew Form have made the decision to end their marriage.”

“The decision was made with love and respect,” the statement continued. “They will continue to co-parent their child together and appreciate privacy as they navigate this transition.”

The separation followed Daddario’s candid discussions about motherhood after a previous pregnancy loss. She called the experience “very, very painful” and later described her son as “a great baby” who had brought “so much joy and peace” into her life.

Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula

Summer House star Amanda Batula sounded liberated after separating from Kyle Cooke following four years of marriage.

“Honestly, I feel like I’m on cloud nine. Unstoppable,” she told Marie Claire, adding that she had “never been happier.”

Still, she admitted the decision was painful. “We were both struggling with the decision to call it quits, and that’s where I faded away and lost myself a bit,” Batula said. “But it just got to a point where I knew I had given the relationship everything I had, and there was no fight left in me.”

She rejected comparisons to scandal-driven reality television breakups, insisting, “There’s really no comparison. Kyle and I are good.”

Cooke echoed that sentiment, saying, “There’s still a lot of love,” despite the difficulty of ending a relationship that had unfolded publicly from the beginning.

Samira Wiley and Lauren Morelli

Samira Wiley, 39, and Lauren Morelli, 43, ended their marriage after nine years together but remain committed to co-parenting their daughter, George Elizabeth.

The pair met in 2012 while working on Orange Is the New Black, where Wiley played Poussey Washington, and Morelli served as a writer. They became engaged in 2016 and married in Palm Springs in March 2017.

In a statement, they said the divorce would be amicable and stressed that their lifelong parenting partnership would continue. Wiley later won an Emmy for The Handmaid’s Tale, while Morelli is now producing Netflix’s upcoming cryptocurrency drama, The Altruists, for viewers.

Alex Rodriguez and Jaclyn Cordeiro

Alex Rodriguez and Jaclyn Cordeiro split after three years together but emphasized that there was no hostility behind their decision.

“To clarify, Alex and I are currently taking some time apart, but there continues to be mutual love, care, and deep respect between us and for our families,” Cordeiro told TMZ. “We remain supportive of one another, and there is absolutely no animosity, drama, or negative story here.”

She added, “I’m also navigating a serious health matter involving a family member at this time, so my focus is understandably there.”

Rodriguez and Cordeiro began dating in 2022 and went public with a holiday family photograph. Although their romance did not survive 2026, sources said the former Yankees star and fitness entrepreneur remained “good friends” after separating.

Karol G and Feid

TMZ reported that Karol G and Feid ended their three-year relationship on amicable terms, though neither artist has publicly confirmed the split.

The Colombian stars were first linked after releasing their 2021 collaboration “Friki” and appeared together at the 2023 Latin Grammys. Karol G later made their romance public in March 2024 with an Instagram photo from the Billboard Women in Music event.

Their musical partnership continued on her 2025 album “Tropicoqueta,” which featured Feid on “Verano Rosa.” Feid previously described working with Karol G as special, praising her artistic vision and calling their creative bond a blessing for both artists.

Jason Biggs and Jenny Mollen

Jason Biggs and Jenny Mollen have separated after 18 years of marriage but remain on good terms, according to their representative.

The former couple is prioritizing the co-parenting of their two sons, Sid, 12, and Lazlo, 8, and recently celebrated Biggs’ 48th birthday together as a family. A source described them as closely connected and committed to maintaining an excellent relationship.

Biggs and Mollen met while filming My Best Friend’s Girl in 2008, eloped that year, and later held a second wedding ceremony in Napa. They recently appeared together in the comedy Influenced and have largely kept their family life private.

The reasons behind these breakups were not identical, but the outcome was the same. Careers pulled some couples in different directions, while trust issues, changing priorities, parenthood, and long-standing tensions ended others.

Several former partners are attempting to preserve friendships or healthy co-parenting arrangements, but 2026 has already proved that even the most admired celebrity romances can unravel once private differences become impossible to ignore.
